Sacramento-Area Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving

Sacramento-Area Restaurants Open for Thanksgiving

For some, Thanksgiving tradition is cooking up turkey with all the yummy fixins. For others, it’s letting someone else do the work and enjoying their Thanksgiving feast at a restaurant. My family has gone the restaurant route a time or two, and I actually liked it quite a bit. You’ll often find many more side dishes and desserts to choose from, and my personal favorite, no dishes to clean!

Here’s a list of restaurants open this Thanksgiving. We suggest making reservations in advance.

Elkhorn Saloon Country Bar & Grill

Elkhorn Saloon Country Bar & Grill

Located just five minutes from Sacramento International Airport, off Road 22, the historic Elkhorn Saloon is truly a country bar and grill, surrounded by cornfields and the Sacramento River levee.

Originally founded in 1878 by Frank Linggi as the Elkhorn Saloon, this building has housed many things: a restaurant, saloon, post office, brothel and a gambling hall.  Both steamboat and stagecoach passengers would frequent the saloon until the levees were completed in the 1920's.  In 1958 the building was moved to make room for expansion of the Old River Road and it became the Elkhorn Station and became famous for its "Friday Night Fish Fry."

Most people recognize Sacramento as the capital of California, but Sacramento is more than just the political center of the Golden State. Sacramento is a growing metropolis of scrunchy diapered baby butts; toothy, drooly infant grins; and glowing, boastful proud parents. Dense in family friendly activities, charming playgrounds, and artistic pursuits; Sactown is just plain fun, but not at all plain. Whether your idea of fun is museum hopping or outdoor festivals and celebrations; Sacramento is rich in culture and community! The River City is a GREAT place to raise a kid and an EVEN BETTER place to be a kid.

Macy's Bakery Cafe Cobblestone Turkey Panini

I discovered this unique combo and shot it to the top of my new found food list and loved it so much,  I now care to share.  Here's how the menu reads; Smoked Turkey Breast, Smoked Bacon, Monterey Jack, Cranberry Lemon (zest) Mayonnaise on...wait for it...Cinnamon Cobblestone Bread...grilled!  As if that weren't enough, they serve it with ice cold crunchy baby carrot stick. It's a 10 for $8.95!

Black Bear Diner

Black Bear Diner

This was my third time here and I've really been wanting to like this place. Really! I'm trying since it's pretty close to my house.

The first two times were very mediocre mostly because they served my food pretty darn cold. This time I stepped up and got the rib/ tri-tip combo. I would recommend this if you happen upon this place.

It's hidden behind Burger King on the west side of I-80 off of West El Camino.
