Children's Grief Group Beginning | Family
Davis, CA – Grief is a process affecting mind, body and spirit. It does not affect everyone in the same way. Children, in particular, experience grief differently than the adults around them. The Yolo Hospice Stepping Stones program is specifically designed to help children express and cope with their grief using art, education and sharing. A Stepping Stones peer grief support group will begin this month for children ages 5-12 years.
The group will be held every Thursday for 10 weeks beginning Thursday, September 8, 2011 and will end Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6:30-8:00 P.M. in Davis. The group is facilitated by trained bereavement specialists.
Call Yolo Hospice, Bereavement Services at (800) 491-7711 or (530) 601-5756 for more information and to determine if participation in the group is appropriate for your child at this time. Pre-registration is required and group size is limited. Participation in the group is free.
The Yolo Hospice Team of professionals assists patients, their families and our community by providing bereavement services to adults, adolescents and children who have experienced the death of a loved one. The Stepping Stones program is designed to support, educate and companion youth and their families as they grieve the loss of a loved one.
