This week’s challenge is to de-clutter your closets!

The Mama Bootcamp Clothing Swap is coming soon - Sunday May 4, 2014 to be exact!  Clear your closet and bring clothing to your  Bootcamp Coach.  All the Mamas will be given an opportunity to "shop" through the donated items on May 4 and take what they need to fit their healthier bodies.  You don't need to donate to shop, but the more donations we have, the more variety and opportunity there will be.

Public Health & Wellness Fair April 10

In celebration of National Public Health Week, April 7-14, the Yolo County Health Department invites the community to attend this year’s Public Health & Wellness Fair on Thursday April 10 from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., at 137 N. Cottonwood Street in Woodland.

This free, family-friendly event includes bike helmet fittings and traffic safety games, car seat inspections, blood pressure screenings, healthy eating activities and food samples, Sidewalk CPR activities, rides on the smoothie bike, and much more.  Residents are encouraged to walk, bike, stroll or roll over to the fair and find out how public health services in Yolo County can help make America the healthiest nation in one generation.

“Join us April 10 to find out how you can take preventive measures, both big and small, in your families, neighborhoods, workplaces and schools to live longer and healthier lives,” said Yolo County Board of Supervisors Chair Don Saylor.

Native Film Screening of "Black Indians:  An American Story" - 2/22!

In honor of Black History Month, the State Indian Museum is proud to present a very special Native American Film Screening of “Black Indians: An American Story” on Saturday, February 22, at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m.  

Narrated by James Earl Jones, the engaging film explores the cultural and ethnic fusion of Native and African Americans and brings to light an often forgotten aspect of America’s pastThe special film presentations are free with regular Museum admission and seating is limited (first come, first served).  The State Indian Museum will be open that day and guests are encouraged to explorethe treasures on display that proudly showcase the enduring Native American culture.
