Dog found tortured, dead in West Sacramento | Crime
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - Warning: This will make you sick to your stomach.
A small dog was found dead with his mouth tied shut and his legs bound together on the 1700 block of Merkley Avenue Thursday afternoon, said officers with the Animal Service division of the Yolo County Sheriff's Office.
The dog's neck had been broken, a Animal Services veterinarian determined. He was found by a probation officer supervising a work crew.
Officers don't know who tortured and killed the dog. He was described as a tan and white chihuahua mixed-breed, 3 to 5 years old. Animal Services believe he was a stray as he didn't have a collar, ID tag or microchip implant.
Anyone with information on who hurt and killed the dog was asked to contact Animal Services at (530) 668-5287 or the West Sacramento Police Department at 916-617-4900.
