A letter to our community on News10's 60th anniversary

March 19, 2015 marks the 60th anniversary of KXTV's first broadcast. We at News10 are privileged to be part of our vibrant and beautiful communities. So much has changed over the decades—from entertainment like Gunsmoke and Lassie to Modern Family and Shark Tank, and technology like film and fuses to digital media and the Internet.

But one thing has never changed: KXTV's commitment to serve the people of Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto and all the surrounding areas with quality news, information, programming and advertising.

Bowling for Schools

Bowling for Schools

The West Sacramento Educational Foundation (WSEF) is hosting its big fundraiser for the year from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Capitol Bowl. The WSEF is one of West Sacramento’s only education-based 501(c)(3) non-profits. All funds raised by the WSEF organization go back to the schools and classrooms in the form of grants.

West Sacramento Education Foundation Board Member and West Sacramento resident Jaclyn Powell says, “WSEF was able to issue $5,000 in grants in 2014. Depending on the success of ‘Bowling for Schools,’ we hope to nearly double that number this year. Valuable programs in Washington Unified need additional funding, we don’t want to let them down.”... Community Business Bank's ‘Casual Fridays' Results in Generous Donations to Local Food Banks

Community Business Bank's ‘Casual Fridays' Results in Generous Donations to Local Food Banks

Community Business Bank employees are busy collecting thousands of pounds of food to donate to local food banks as part of a year-round giving campaign called "Food Bank Fridays." The campaign started a few years ago when Community Business Bank employees requested permission to dress casually on Fridays.  While management could have simply allowed jeans to be worn at work, the request for “casual Fridays” turned into a light bulb moment.

“Our management team and the bank’s Community Foundation Committee agreed to the idea with one stipulation: Employees can dress casually on Fridays as long as they bring in at least one item to benefit local food banks,” said John DiMichele, CEO, Community Business Bank.
